The gentlemen at Elpis & Wood have a deep love and respect for the natural state of a felled tree. They don’t try to disguise the natural deviations, or to transform the twisted into perfectly consistent planks. They are the opposite of IKEA in a way…or maybe just a great compliment. In Elpis & Wood, form marries function without giving an inch of ground. Their tables are singular, unique and beautiful, but still recognizable and functional as furniture. Finding Magic When Elpis & Wood moved into their space here in Everett, we knew we had to film them. We love their commitment to salvaging what would otherwise be cast off, and their ability to see treasure where so many had only seen trash. As filmmakers, we have similar instincts. That drive to find a compelling way to look at something that might otherwise go overlooked, that’s the impulse behind some of the most interesting documentaries of our time!
